Week 6: Love is All You Need……………

In Og Mandino’s book, The Greatest Salesman in the World, Scroll Two begins with: I will greet the day with love in my heart.  When I first read Scroll Two, my thoughts took me to the song, “All You Need is Love”, by The Beatles.  As I read the lyrics from the song and continued to read Scroll Two throughout the week, a simple question kept coming to me.
Could it be as simple as L-O-V-E?  It’s a simple four letter word that, more often than not we take for granted, but it truly is the key to so many different aspects in life.  Mandino talks about how love is ” the greatest secret of success in all ventures”.  What a powerful concept!  L-O-V-E is the answer to everything.  If we all adopted a “love all mankind” attitude, what would our world be like?   I am too young to have experienced the “Summer of Love” in 1967(not born until 1969) but I am a fan of late 60’s music/culture and truly do believe (just like Mandino and The Beatles) that with L-O-V-E, anything is possible.

As I look at Mandino’s message, he’s not saying having love and giving love will solve all problems.  What he is saying is if we change our perspective to one where we “love” everything in our lives, we can overcome anything.  “I will love the sun for it warms my bones, yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit.  I will welcome happiness for it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul.”  I could go on and on.

Mandino ends Scroll Two by saying, “If I have no other qualities I can succeed with love alone.  Without it I will fail, though I possess all the knowledge and skills of the world.”

I know I will greet everyday with love in my heart and I will succeed.  Won’t you join me?
